Guy on the left used sleight of hand to pocket a large portion of money that was to be paid to a dealer, guy on the right was helping distract the dealer.
Collector, occasional seller
When I worked at a shop we once orchestrated a "sting" on a thief who had stolen coins from Larry Briggs and subsequently sold them to us. The whole thing took several weeks to develop. My boss made arrangements to meet the guy at coin show to buy some stuff he had(probably stolen) and when he showed up the police were waiting.
Thanks for the excellent video and discussion... Should be watched closely by all dealers/sellers and then showed to employees as well. Cheers, RickO
Why didn’t the dealer put the money together after it was counted out? Inexperience due to age?
2 more people elected to the hall of shame, tsk tsk
edited: at least they know who they are looking for, 2 fools in a van
I was taught by a mentor early on in my dealing days that if you are the seller you should be the last one to count the money and the last one to handle the money. All the sleight of hand and other hustles are not new but unfortunately they have to be learned by each new generation, too often the hard way.
I don't know if it's his real name, but his name tag says "Harold" I believe.

Who's the guy in the green sitting at the table?
You would have thought he would have had a good view of the slight of hand, but again we don't see everything all the time.
The lead guy was slick and it worked, he quickly went to shake his hand (blocking and focus the dealers attention) then sat down.
Too bad the dealer didn't do another quick count and put the money away before handing over the coins.
Wow!
Disgusting!
I hope they are caught and soon!

Excellent video and excellent learning experience. Thank you for posting.

After the money was counted out and laying on the table, it makes no sense for the buyer to start picking it up. That should have been a red flag.
Wisdom has been chasing you but, you've always been faster
Lesson learned!
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Hope they catch the bastards.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
And a signal to the dealer to recount the money. I've had dealers take money from me without recounting and while I appreciate that they trusted me, I really would prefer that they count it themselves in order to confirm that I didn't make a mistake. I'd really hate to leave the table and have them find out later I was wrong and think instead that I was trying to cheat them.
