Not a coin but coin related- new purchase

So, this is not a coin but it is coin related. I just bought this 1786 issue of Gentleman’s Magazine. Inside it gives a description of a new halfpenny (Nova Constellatio) circulating in America. It also includes an illustration of the new coin. One of the things I love about coin collecting is the history behind each coin. I am excited to add this piece of numismatic history to my collection.
Does anyone else enjoy collecting historical documents about coins like this?

I particularly liked "The new American half penny is in weight as three to two of the English coin". Thanks for sharing

Interesting piece of history.

Documents that actually document coinage and medals are either neglected or just overlooked- congrats and well done. Thanks for sharing
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Nice
Nice!
I don't have anything like your great historical publication but I do have a couple letters by famous people that mention coins.
I have a typed note by Mamie Eisenhower from 1971 that mentions the "new" Ike dollar.
I also have a letter signed by Richard Nixon in 1965 that tells the recipient that he'll be receiving an example of the new Churchill Crown under separate cover.
@JBK Those letters sound really neat and interesting. I looked up a Churchill Crown, cool coin.
"Gentlemen's magazines" certainly changed over the years..
Sorry, I couldn't resist. In all seriousness that's pretty cool. I know the history about coins and the stories that surround them is why I am a collector.
@Em7 ... Welcome aboard. That is a very interesting article... Where did you find that old magazine??? Cheers, RickO
Neat

Ever heard of The Merry Muses of Caledonia?
No and I'm afraid to google it in case my wife looks at my phone.
That is a cool document, thanks for sharing.

No pictures, just dirty diddies.
Thanks @ricko . There is a rare and historical newspaper store in PA. They have some really neat items. Occasionally they get in newspapers that contain articles about coins being circulated or minted during that time.
