1996 Lincoln

I may have found a 1996 Philadelphia wide AM Lincoln penny. You will have to zoom in on each picture. The coin is in rough shape .

    I’m sorry, but I’m just not seeing it.
    There’s too much crud and corrosion in the way.
    If you really think it’s there, you might try soaking the coin in distilled water to loosen up the debris- if organic.

  • @nwcoast Tks, I'll do that. Does the temperature matter?

  • @nwcoast Also do the initials not fit? Or is that just apply on the 92.?

    Looks like a close AM to me.

    Magnifying the picture, it appears to be a close AM.... Suggest you try an acetone soak... Cheers, RickO

    Based on both the positions of the AM and the FG, the coin looks like a Wide AM to me.

    How much does it matter for that date in that condition?

    Warm water.
    If that doesn’t work, you might try an acetone soak- using precautions due to its volatility and flammability.
    Toxicities too!

    Looks like a closed AM. Better pics are needed. @MFeld the last 2 letters in America are not the same.

    @MFeld
    Mark, I pulled the picture of the 96 closed AM on line to compare with the OP's picture and the pic you posted.

    I agree about the last two letters in AMERICA and that better pictures are needed. But my preliminary guess was based on the apparent spacing of the AM and the FG.

    Looks like a closed AM. Ive been looking at a couple thousand pennies over the last few weeks with my kids for this same error on multiple year dates. So far, we havent had any luck with the wide or close AM.

    Hope you clean it and proves me wrong.
