lol
HI Guys,
While visiting my favorite LCS this morning. I came across a bunch of circulated Silver Eagles.
Well, In the pile, I spotted a 1996! I told the owner. She said, " she was aware". Then, she said, "it's there for the lucky one to find it. For only $5 over spot." $27.50 :D
Of course, I obliged!
My "Deal of a Lifetime" moment.
Pictures Later...
Thanks
:D

How did the Silver Eagles get circulated?

Tell us more about what makes the 1996 silver eagle so desirable. Most of us don't collect moderns so many of us are interested to learn.

They appeared to be in a fire? Some of them, not all. Esp the 1996. In great shape!
    Pictures coming.
    Thanks

1996 is the lowest mintage, but they still made a LOT of them.

3,603,386 struck. Lowest of any "regular" issue.

Lowest mintage bullion SE, I believe.

I had also heard that one outfit purchased a large number of them to hold, so availability was even more restricted. Not sure if the story was - or still is - true.

Are all Silver Eagles that are minted released to the public or are the "leftovers" remelted? I often wonder if the higher mint quantities on collectables accurately reflects availability.

I think he is mocking another forum member who also claimed to find a "deal of a lifetime". :D
