Wellllll… there’s a catch…. They buy coins for ripoff prices… they basically prey on the not very knowledgeable, or the desperate for money, but it works in my favor, so I get coins for VERY cheap
The workings of the dealer’s strategy is evident from the beginning of this thread.

Hard to believe (not saying I don’t believe you) that a coin shop that pays rent and presumably knows what they’re doing sold that set for 35 bucks. That 13-s t2 is worth $100 + (if real)
Edit just checked prices$100+ probably a bit optimistic but close to that.

Very suspicious response. There are dealers who prey on the unknowledgeable sellers but they do not become Robin Hood’s when they sell, they prey in both directions.
I personally would never buy from a dealer like that, if I knew what they were doing. I realize dealers need to make a profit to stay in business, but if they are okay with ripping people off, I consider that theft and I am NOT okay with that. This is the reason I only buy from a few trusted dealers on Ebay, most of whom post on these boards.

I think you did well. As others have said, if all dates and MM are correct, you are likely in a profitable position.
Is it the deal of a lifetime? Well, I guess that depends on how long you live and the number of deals you make. That said, may you live for many years and conduct many great deals moving forward.
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

OP, The catch is that you outsmart him, right?
Edit: phrasing, added text

Sorry, but I can't let this statement go unremarked!
Are you sure?

Yes, I'm sure. Are YOU arguing?
