Eh, hatred towards teams is part of the fun, I never cared and never will care how many people like or hate the Pats

As I lived in New York City from 99 to 06, I certainly am well aware of the Patriot hate. I was actually referring more to when people turned against Brady. I feel as though he sort of existed as a separate entity outside the organization.

I was actually trying to respond to you and @craig44 at the same time.

Understood about Brady. I don’t think he’s unlikeable at all and I don’t think anyone has turned on him. I think the whole Golden Boy image is destined to fade as youth fades but it will always be part of his career. However, I do believe he was more humble at one point, it became false humility at some point and he’s not a great actor so that will rub people the wrong way and he tried to do it for too long. Off the field, he’s had a few missteps that would also turn people off even if they haven’t got the knowledge or the right. Plus, I imagine some percentage of the Patriots fan base, however small, didn’t appreciate the Tampa Bay years; not that you’re not happy for him that he won but that a part of the fan base is bothered on some level that he ever suited up for anyone else. The suspension, bogus or not, cast him in a different light, too. And the TB12 stuff and surrounding stories were strange and unflattering.

It’s not much individually but the cumulative effect sort of chipped away at the veneer that surrounds Tom Brady.

Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?

the 01 team was very popular. they took the field as a team instead of individually, the speech after the game, "we are all patriots" 6th round draft pick coming off the bench to lead the team to SB. huge underdogs against the Rams greatest show on turf.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I think after the 3 SB in 4 years, Patriots fatigue became a thing. I understand it, people get tired of the same team winning over and over and over again. I think that BB was also a big factor in the Patriot's hate. He is completely devoid of personality and comes across as ALWAYS grumpy. He may be the smartest guy in the room, but he is not a likable person.

As an individual player, I think Tommy has always been pretty popular. If memory serves, his jerseys have always been at the top of sales lists. His cards are also on tier 1 for value. The guy gets well over a grand per sig at autograph signings. He always seems to say the right things at press conferences etc.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
