What's the highest graded old small white Anacs slab that you have seen or own?
I have been on a mission to pick up some old small white Anacs slabbed coins and was wondering what is the highest grade you have seen on one of these (particularly for Morgans)?
I saw an auction result from several years back of an MS 67 Morgan but currently my highest grade is a 66 (photo courtesy of GC).

The highest graded I've owned (or seen) was the MS66RD Lincoln I sold a few years ago. I still own quite a few coin in grades that range from MS65 to XF, including this MS65 Morgan

@Oakstar the 68's were crossed for my registry set. Many 67's still hanging around and sold some about 60 or so 67 soap bars to members here in the last year or so. Also cracked and sent a couple for upgrade and got them to 67+.

My lowly 63.
It’s the first slabbed coin I ever bought 93-94.
🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
Had a dozen or so MS65 Walkers, but only a red lincoln in MS66.

Just doing an internet search and saw this one. From old obsolete eBay.
So what year did they quit using this slab (this one I was surprised).

Around early 2006 was when the last of this type was made.
Go for it! I’d be happy to see that too.
That's a nice 1882-S Morgan, @coinbuff. I like the small ANACS holders as well.
My highest graded small ANACS-holdered coin is an MS64 1885-CC toned silver dollar labeled "GSA." I assume it's cracked out from a GSA holder. It was bought on a whim along with some other TPG MS and PR coins purchased after discovering EBay and wanting to spend some money on some nice coins. Toning had become big during my break from collecting, so I looked to buy a few toners.
It's fun to think back on that shopping spree.
@U1chicago- Stby.....

Thanks, I would have never thought that late. I was wondering if the one shown was actually close to the end.

Here is a link to a thread here on the forums, in that first post member @86Saab links to his google doc that outlines all the ANACS certs and slabs by generation.

Here is the highest graded "classic" (1964 or earlier) silver coin I've ever owned in a small white Anacs slab (sold a few years ago; photos again courtesy of GC).
Im a fan of toning, but that quarter is too much funkiness for me. I would have to give it a quick dip.

I don't think it did-at least not recently. Below is a link to when it sold on Heritage in 2004 and you could see it was already fully toned (I owned it in 2019).

I thought it was nice but nowhere near the top toned quarters (and obviously not something that would appeal to all). I would definitely not recommend dipping it though.
My takeaway is Heritage certainly upped its photography game since 2004.

Understatement of the thread so far.
Thanks @U1chicago. I wish there was a record or an indication on the slabs of when the coins were holdered. I wonder what the barcode says or indicates.

Unfortunately the best we can do with most slabs is get an approximate date range (with Anacs, you can use the link from coinbuf above).
Yes, that gets us close.

As I recall, I made an MS67 once on a World coin (German, I think), which I had submitted to ANACS back in the old small holder era, circa 2003-ish.
While not MS or anything, this is currently the only ANACS coin in my collection. I bought it off the BST here. I think it is undergraded. It has nice luster and is oh-so-faintly prooflike. I’ve thought about crossing it to PCGS, but haven’t. It remains in the small white ANACS holder, at least for now. Kind of as a bit of nostalgia, I guess.

There is/used to be a member here that is/was trying to collect one of each US type coin in the ANACS white holders. He had a link to what they called their "ANACS KILL PAGE" where it tracked what slabs they had and needed....anyone know who I am talking about?

Guess am having about four of them but the pride of my collection is the pair of Philly & Denver mint 1955 Lincolns which was posted earlier.

I love those old alpha numeric ANACS holders. I don’t have any of them unfortunately. At least I don’t think do. I’ll have to check….gives me a good reason to break out the collection.

Highest graded? I would have to look. I recall having at afew Jefferson wartime nickels that made it to 67 and a Mercury Dime

I’ve had this pastel purple one for awhile.
