What's happening with the pit at the corner of Sacajawea's mouth? Is it possible the mint performed a Rockwell Hardness Test there on this coin? :o

I don't know Perry but I doubt it. Let me go dig out the coin and look again. I'll get back to you.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

Since there are a couple of modern dollars shown here how about this one I used to own (I'd always thought it to be Dansco toning):

PR 67.5 Simpson pedigree. Really like Simpson's holder but don't have a pic in the holder........now on my to do list.

I would love any of you world class graders on here to tell me what limited the grade to 67.5?

    OINK

That's a really nice 1937! 1937s come notoriously nice past 66, so to get up to 67+/68, you need something really really special. To me, this coin meets that requirement.

So then the question becomes - any hairlines on it?

I appreciate your comments Al. There are no hairlines, but there is a light scratch on the buffalo's shoulder which is not as detracting as the PR69 in CoinFacts has a significant carbon spot on the buffalo's flank. I am happy with the 67.5 as I paid 67 money for it. It does look very special in Simpson's custom holder. I would have to reholder a Hansen holder FWIW. The toning should have boosted a half point maybe?
