Just another $1M cent

OK, which two of you ran this up from $575K to over $1M last night?
Congrats to GC on another million dollar coin!

Just another one? How many are there???
I honestly don't know. Maybe a couple 43 bronzes, and now this one. Underbidder ran out of time or this could have ended up higher.

Wow!
If you take all cents, large and small, I'm sure there are a few
early large cents at that rarified level.
Why is the date not doubled?
Who needs gold when you have copper!
i believe the context isn't another 58 ddo but no big deal, just another $1m cent.
that has got to be the most valuable attributed ddo in all of the usa coin catalog?
i wonder what the 55 or 69s would have to grade to even begin to think about such a sum? it'd probably be the 69s between the 2 and may have to hit 69 or 70rd.
This coin exhibits pivoted hub doubling, the fulcrum is just above the date around K4-5. The further you get from the fulcrum, the more pronounced the doubling. The 1955 DDO was class I rotated die doubling, so all of the elements along the rim show the doubling equally.

Yes, but if it's "another", where's the first one
Seems like the only 2 other cents to sell for $1m or more were 1943 bronze cents that both went to Simpson.
Heritage has sold 3 different 1793 Chain cents for $1M+, and a 1792 1¢ pattern for $2.52M.
yes, seems.
i don't know the exact number but i know i've seen at least a handful. since the title says cent and not just small or lincoln cent, i expanded to ANY usa cent. perhaps i'm stretching.
Thinking Lincolns, but the tiny numbers of cents overall in this category and the coins that are still outside the velvet rope of the $1M club looking in speak volumes to the desirability of the 58 DDO cent.
