Took a chance on an eBay item…1936 D 3 1/2 leg Buffalo. what are my odds? COIN RECEIVED

I saw this item from a seller with 1 positive feedback and other items for sale that I’m not sure they are what he has them listed at. I made an offer that was accepted and figured that eBay and my credit card would back me if it’s not. It’s scheduled to be delivered on Saturday so it’s a wait and see game. What do you think my odds are of getting what it was listed at?

not likely although the images do seem to be what they say it is.

i'll cross my fingers the person doesn't send the other one they have listed that is not the 3.5 leg.

    i like auandag's optimism though!

Tells me nothing... All ebay sellers take returns whether we like to or not! 😅

But I do know what you are saying. No returns can be a red flag at times. Let's just hope he doesn't have to do a SNAD on him.

    @spyglassdesign
Absolutely. Returns are available and snad is actually a very handy thing. Ofcourse, not to be abused as an approval service. 🦫
I’m inclined to think that the seller is obviously new and has yet to become wise in the “Ways of the Bay“. Perhaps there’s some comfort in thinking you can make your own rules but they shall learn 🙀

Here's the Mintmark position. It sits up high, and almost touches the "E" in Cents.

    Yours looks good to go.

Crummy pics in the listing but based on the last one showing the key areas, it looks right.

is the "high D" a diagnostic for this variety?

I tend to agree that everyone starts somewhere. I'd add that the coin appears washed out but that could be crummy pictures. I hope this is his/her most valuable offering.

I know that everyone starts somewhere, but 0 or 1 feedback eBayers have been poison for me.

I hope it works out for you, but you should be OK even if it's garbage, as a buyer

Good luck... The pictures do look authentic... If that is the actual coin you get, I would say it is a winner. Cheers, RickO

OP should be fine regardless. Remember this is eBay, the world's largest free approval service.

Good for you, from his other listings it looks like you bought a nice acorn from a blind squirrel, many of his other auctions are misattributed.

Looks good to me. Let us know the grade sometime. I think VG10, F12 area. Any thoughts?

I figured you would get something as the wood background matched a previous sale of a $45 Barber. I was not and still am not sure you will get a straight grade, but you know more about Buffalos than me. I am happy you are happy.

    F-15, maybe vf20.

    Real deal.
Nice pickup. 36 three leggers are scarcer than the 37.

    Have a nice day

That looks like a legit coin and doesn't exhibit any cleaning in your pictures. They are very rare. Worth a bunch.

You got a gift from NGC with a VF-25 grade. (looks no better than a VF-20 to me).

But that's to your favor. Nice pick on a very scarce variety.

I was in the VG-8 to F-12 range, leaning toward VG-8. On my screen, I can't see the horn - hardly any at all. I thought you need to see a full horn for VF. Maybe you can see most/all of it, with the coin in hand.

Good pickup and great grade, @Vetter! Congrats!

Good going. Looked like the legger from the original (crappy) photos. I would have taken a chance on it too.
