For people who like Englehard bars

I normally do not buy vintage bars but I just couldn’t help myself.
I bought 11-ten ounce Englehard silver bars. All bars are non-magnetic, they pass a sigma meter, and I weighed a few bars (312 gms) out of their plastic sleeves so I believe they are real.
I think the bar with the serial number c388883 is really cool because it reminds me of a binary radar serial number on currency.

Poor taste to ask but did you pay about $350 per bar?
Considering the market environment, I would be interested in knowing that as well.
Either way, nice pickup of very recognizable Vintage silver bullion
It's all about what the people want...
Vanhalen and lukemarshall: I assume by your comments that $350- would have been a good price, correct? Again, I don’t play in the vintage silver bar market.
I paid less than $350- per bar.
Hey @Ppp ,
I watch Ebay to gauge the current market price on some of these types of pieces.
People are still paying around the $350 mark on these types of bars on that venue
If you can get them for less, especially close to spot, its generally considered a win at this time.
Good job Sir!

Nice silver bars, and it seems you got a good buy as well. I really like the serial number 388883, because the ship I served on in the Navy was DER 383.... And I spent most of four years aboard. Cheers, RickO
Nice bars! They look authentic to me. 👍

Yes, very nice bars. I too have this issue. lol
Thanks for the original post, and thanks to other users of the forum for their subsequent posts. One of two local jewelers/coin dealer shops that I frequent in my locale says they are looking for this brand of silver bars...and they mentioned that they would pay more for these. I happened to buy a number of bars from a Government mint (direct) and had them shipped. Bought low and sold high, so made off with a pretty good profit. Bought more after that, and it was like gambling in a casino (quit while you're ahead)...lost quite a bit...though likely not as much as I gained...reported all sales to my country's Treasury department. Loved every part of it...the handling of the precious metals bars, the dreaming, etc., but in the end I pretty much used the monies and profits to buy groceries, and likely this type of investment didn't treat me as well as stock market investing did. Wow, love the vintage part. Neat!
Nice! At some point I hoping to find one I like.
