RIP SimpleCollector (Kurt Alver)

All,
I must announce some very sad news:
One of our own, Kurt Alver,
@SimpleCollector passed away suddenly on July 30th of last year. I was in frequent contact over the years with Kurt as a forum friend, and fellow collector. It occurred to me recently that he was absent from the boards. Seeing that he hadn't been active since July, I sent him a note with the hope that he was just busy.
Most tragically, I googled his name this morning and his obituary popped up.
He was only 55.

Kurt loved patriotic Civil War tokens and was a frequent contributor to our "Civil War Token Mega Thread." Despite his forum name, he was anything but a simple collector. He enjoyed esoteric items with great eye appeal, historical pieces that celebrated our great nation, and old gold coins from our national mints. Above all, he collected memories with his family. He sent this picture of he and his daughter playing golf a month before he passed. He described that beautiful day with these final words, "Honestly, better experience and memory than any of the coins I buy."

So we say goodbye to our brother, Kurt, and remind ourselves to live for each moment. Be kind to each other. Put your time and energy into things that matter most. Do the things that make you and others happy today, and never wait for tomorrow.

Rest in peace, Kurt. We will all miss you!
