Apparently ebay has a team of experts to identify fakes, or at least that's what the dealer said they told him.
If that’s true, they must be perpetually over-worked, because I see a lot of (even poorly made) copies that are reported, remain listed and sell. To be fair, maybe many such sales are reversed at a later date.

It's not the experts that are overworked, its the counterfeiters. One of these days there will be people reporting the GENUINE coins on Ebay.
I don't think any of us will have to worry about that, though.

3 weeks around Christmas/New Year is slower for many people on eBay
so can the guy email you the pics he used so you can post here?
After Christmas maybe. Before Christmas, I can barely keep up with shipping.
Robert said he had 3 transactions in 3 weeks and then today shipped out 14 orders.
That's the 3 weeks after Christmas. Things can be slow. But he could have had his searches suppressed more than usual. I mean they suppressed everyone on certain items at certain times.

I assume they have someone who evaluates reports. Idk if that is a team of true experts or just someone knowledgeable enough to understand reports from people like us.
sales are also related to new additions to the store - if all listings are stale (at least a couple months old) and all of a sudden a few hundred more get added, sales should go up if prices are realistic.
I am amazed at the number of lower value (and higher as well) ANACS coins in his listings and he wouldn't spring for the $'s to have his Trade certified?
In fact, of his FOUR pages of dollars listed he only has a handful of raw coins, mostly lots. There are a couple of certified Trades and an Early in his ANACS slabbed listings...

eBay is weird. Yesterday I threw a bookmark bid on a lot. This morning when I signed on to my eBay screen name there was an email that said my bid was winning. Went to eBay and checked my bids and it said I was not bidding on anything
refresh the page a couple times then bids will show up
Still having problems with it.

that is why ALL the tech companies have so many programmers ... to fix the problems made by their 'upgrades'.
if i understand correctly and i think i've seen some other posts about not buying the algorithm thing. the context was not the prevention of listing items but the continuation of regular sales. someone with a few and new listings wouldn't really be affected by a "switch" that turns on and off or can be modified but the long-term regular sellers and sell enough regularly to know when something has gone awry.
i've seen several members here over a period of years (including myself) recognize these variances. outside politics, seasons, holidays etc.
one way to prove they have algorithms that do affect tracffic, sales etc is the TSR program. feedback, sales, listings, how often, regularity of listing, getting 5 stars etc all affect this and the ebay language states as much or at least is has in the past. so it makes sense that they have other "means" to reward/punish sellers for various activities. my 2c

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense to me; signing out!
What makes no sense to you?

You snuck your comment in just as I hit post! This notion of all of the lost business and sudden regain of business around this counterfeit removal...
It makes sense if you attribute the reported swings in business to chance, rather than to the circumstances of the removed listing.😉

are saying eBay 'shadow bans' some sellers and their listings do not appear in searches? being the explanation for no sales? just curious.
This thread is useless without images.
The ebay account is "zypies". I have checked Robert's sales from time to time and he does strong business usually.
So much for "the algorithms"...

He's lying or mistaken. I searched his sold items. He has steady sales. He sold 67 items on January 2nd alone. He's sold 41 items since January 2nd.
Edited to add: there was a sluggish period between 12/8 and 12/29. But there was also a sluggish period between 11/7 and 12/3. And 10/22 and 11/2.
He's sold 120 items since January 1st. There does seem to be some sluggishness in early December. If that the time frame?

I would guess never.
It's not the OP's coin. It is allegedly of to ANACS. Why would the dealer feel the need to humor us?
Anacs takes around a month and a half to grade. I asked him for images, he's been busy.
Still having problems with it.

I sent the seller a note and asked about the Trade but no response so far...
