These are known as 1984 Baseball Buttons, but they actually include stats from the 1984 season. Hershiser is the only one that likely qualifies as an alternate rookie, but thought I'd share the Mattingly and Strawberry, too.
I don't know if this qualifies for this thread but I started collecting Austin Riley a couple of years ago and he has a base Topps RC and then some alternative SPs. First below is the base, then a SP, then a SSP. One of my favorite cards with Blooper on the RC.

Wow, those are some beauties MinorLeaguer! Here’s my Semic Hasek. Jealous of your PSA 8.
Thanks, those 1989 Hasek's in any condition ae tough to find so your 7 is still so awesome. Another on this board has one of the other 8's as well. Not sure if we will ever see one grade higher.
i’m having fun with this thread. No offense taken if u think something I posted is not what I think it is as information is limited. As I collect “first card” of a player, I also might accidentally post pre-rc vs same year as rc, but here we go:
1981 West Edmonton Mall Grant Fuhr
1971 Sargent Stamps Joe Theismann
1983-84 Devils Postcards John Maclean, Pat Verbeek and Ken Daneyko
1988 Coke Blackhawks Postcards Ed Belfour (Same pic as his 1988 Procards Saginaw Hawks card)
1970 Nova Scotia Voyageurs Ken Dryden
1982-83 Sabres Milk Phil Housley (red and blue versions)
1990 Kraft Mats Sundin box
1987-88 Flames Red Rooster Joe Nieuwendyk
1984-85 Canucks Cam Neely
1980 Nordiques Postcards Michel Goulet
1993-84 Canadiens Postcards Chris Chelios with Sharpie auto, note Beckett says the 1984-85 is the same as below but with Facsimile auto.
and 1978-79 Canadiens Postcard Rod Langway
1989 Sabres Blue Shield Alex Mogilny. I also have a 1989-90 Campbells Soup/Franco American Alex Mogilny but could not find it
I'm a hockey guy and I'm really enjoy all the hockey you have been posting. Neely is my all time favorite player and love this one. I have one but can't remember if it's this one or a different one.
Debatable what is the "RC" for Maradona. I say it's the 1977 Argentinos Juniors yellowish Round Pog/Milk-cap thing, but others call that a pre-rc, Many say it's the 1979 Panini. Either way, I still feel lucky to own this 1978 and a bunch of the different 1979 Superfutbol Maradonas.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
Two more, just back from PSA today. Both the only examples PSA has graded:

As posted on one of your other threads recently- thought this one belongs here too. 1951 Mickey Mantle postcard. They apparently came from the Mantle family and were used for public relations when Mickey came into the league. Blank backed (as the story goes from when I purchased, the family that lived next door to the Mantles in Oklahoma wrote their names and '1952') and features Mickey Mantle with his 1951 jersey with the American league arm patch. Anyone know what the Mantle's neighbor's names were when Mickey was growing up and made the league?

You're right, everyone calls these '84 Fun Foods buttons, but PSA lists them as "1985 Fun Food Buttons"
I love this thread and finally have something new to add. Got this Gerry Cheevers 1963 Rochester Americans card this week. Bigger than a typical card at 4x6. Can’t wait to get it signed.

That is by far the goofiest Manning card pic that I've ever seen lol. I didn't even know he had a SLU rookie card.

Pretty cool panels...
That Theisman stamp sheet is really cool @MinorLeaguer
I like to collect signed cards, so here are some of mine that I have in my pile ready to send to PSA.
I apologize because a couple are repeats of others that have already been posted.

Who here has the Arby's Don Mattingly, I always liked that one..
That bowl cut on Patrice Bergeron belongs in the hall of fame.
Tough sticker to find. They were always glued into an album. That’s why this graded a PSA 1.

Just got these two back. A couple of pre rookies of a couple Hall of Famers. Not the easiest cards to find.

Check out Brett’s hand positions on this one. Doesn’t it look like a left handed hook on the blade ?
Love that Ripken photo.
