My pick is a dead-heat tie between Brooks Robinson's '58 and Steve Garvey's '73. I'm trying to keep it to star-semi-star cards.
The bloated and likely over-served '67 Mantle is an atrocity as well...

Not my card. Just how is it an atrocity?
1973 Garvey is a nice card for fans and family of Wes Parker.
It's the singer not the song - Peter Townshend (1972)
Hey now. I didn't mean any offense. It's just an older and very bloated Mickey at the height of his drinking. Truth is, _he _hated the card. The colors fail to contrast and it's actually a cropped photo from a group shot that had to be additionally half-toned to create a workable print. "Atrocity" is just for effect and humor, but the 1967 Topps Mickey Mantle is a terrible card.

Question still stands on the ugliest (most disappointing) cards from, say, 1950-1980...

I expected to see a Don Mossi card by now.
1973 Reggie Jackson
It's the singer not the song - Peter Townshend (1972)
Agree. I love all the early RJ cards, but this one is a travesty. Out of focus, bad lighting, poorly cropped and you can't even really tell who the person really is on the card.
I was never a fan of the '77 Jim Hunter either. Weird looking card.
That card is, indeed, gross. There were SO many photo ops for Reggie, too. A horizontal action shot might have been cool 🤔

Yes! It's basically the '67 Mantle. All the same issues.

Never liked this Ernie Banks card...awkward photo while he was talking.
Runner up would be this May's card (not mine). Baseball players should always wear caps or helmets in their photos.
Came here to say 58 Brooks Robinson.
Some decent possibilities in this thread

1983 TOPPS GWYNN.
Willie McGee. Pick your year and manufacturer.
Hahaha!
That Banks is awful, too

Am waiting for the Bob Hamlin baseball card. Think it was in Pinnacle.
Always wondered what was in the Mantle card background, upper right area below OF. Looks like a clock tower or lighthouse.
some of those 74-75’s hockey looks a little odd with that paneling there…
This one's pretty bad.
Beer tap
How much did it sale for is one of the funniest and most ignorant things I've ever heard.
The wood paneling is hilarious. Some of the 1970 basketball is absolutely amazing as well...of course I'm trying to stick to baseball here but...even in pack fresh condition, Hal Greer got screwed! Lol
"You've gotta be a man to play this game...but you'd better have a lot of little boy in you, too"--Roy Campanella
You know what, Joe? You're in the lead. That Killebrew is gross.
Can anyone can top that? (obviously Don Mossi cards are DQ'd)
Joe is in the lead position with a '61 Killebrew

He was about 24 years old when this photo was taken. Looks much older

Your 1967 Mickey Mantle PSA-8.5 is absolutely gorgeous!
I’m looking for a PSA-8.5 Mickey Mantle for my partial run of the Mick…if you ever want to sell this beauty…PM me.
The thread is amatuer hour without Willie McGee cards.

Explain, please?

.
Like he ate some bad sausage...
The question is...are there any attractive McGee cards?

Holy crap! That's ugly!

Curious...
What would your "best" Doc card(s) be and your least favorite?

Dr. Frankenstein (Frah-ken-shteen): Perhaps I could help you with that hump?

NICE!
Thank you!
And Garvey in a completely different direction...
"You've gotta be a man to play this game...but you'd better have a lot of little boy in you, too"--Roy Campanella
the 73 Garvey is one of my all time favorites...
I'll echo @BaltimoreYankee question, where's Donn Mossi? Imagine your daughter
bringing Don home to meet the family.
Seriously? The original '73 Garvey? That's what makes collecting so fun and personal. People like the '73 Bench as well.
The thread is ugly cards--not necessarily ugly dudes. Willie McGee, Don Mossi, Ron Karkovice, etc...NONE of their cards will be attractive Lol

Nothing will ever beat the Hamelin. It is so poorly executed in every way.
Maybe not the ugliest card, but this card makes Willie look like an alien.
Not the most flattering pictures ever taken of Schmidt.
Also, one, among many, of the late 60's early 70's OPC head transplants.
I never understood why Topps never airbrushed the pole in the background out of the Schmidt photos. I mean, the AS one has it coming right out of the top of his head. With all the terrible airbrushing done by Topps these seem like easy things to fix.
Schmidt has very few nice cards. The '76, '77, '80 and '88 are sharp.
I understand why Topps didn't brush out the posts as they had a job to do and not a lot of time and care to do it. That's why some of these cards are so terrible, Lol. Those hockey "head transplants" are hilariously bad.
"You've gotta be a man to play this game...but you'd better have a lot of little boy in you, too"--Roy Campanella
This one is bad.

Well, it's better than the "Moon Man"'s outtakes...

Monty,
Just to help ease the "unknowing"
That 1967 Mantle 8.5 is mine....
Not really interested in selling because it was and still is my ALL - TIME Favorite Mantle card!!
No accounting for personal taste!
However - I have an 8 of the same card that I feel is just as nice -
maybe even better...
So I might be interested in a exploratory "trade" dialogue
Give it some thought..
