1984 Lincoln error - what's going on here? Opinions appreciated

All the lines you see are raised. The large line through his shoulder/ chest to the date is quite prominent in hand. I am guessing some type of plating issue. The coin is a high Mint state example. What do you guys think is going on here?

In my opinion, and I could be way off-base here, the coin appears to be an extreme example of the plating issues the US Mint had with the early Zincolns.

Some kind of bubble plating blisters issue. It was apparently common with the early zincolns.

Plating issue.
Not an error just a linear plating bubble, this is bigger than most but not the largest that I have seen.

It is a "Mint error". I'm not sure why people are saying it isn't. It's just not one that tends to carry a premium. Blister issues are akin to lamination issues and cousins to clipped planchets. The aren't striking errors but they are Mint errors.
You're not way off. That's exactly what it is. 1983 Cents ( one year before this one) are more numerous and a lot of them got the "measles".

Certainly has the appearance of a plating bubble... Poke it with a needle.... Cheers, RickO
