Interesting find at my town dump recently. Sitting in our free book section was this 1908 book on Augustus Saint-Gaudens by Lewis Hind. The text is organized in four sections: His Life ( A chronology); An Essay; His Works (A chronology, and an early attempt at a catalogue raisonne); Photographic reproductions. I would have never looked for this book so a lucky find for me. It is a nice addition to my coin library and an interesting read. I don't usually find coin related books there but occasional rare books including a first edition of Salem's Lot with the dust jacket. The things people just toss away astounds me sometimes. A few photos of his coin related work.

Nice find.
That’s great. I’d love to have that in the library. Saint Gaudens seems like a wise old sage ahead of his time
Nice find! Many years ago I got the chance to visit his home in New Hampshire. The land and home are now an historic park. In my opinion the St. Gaudens Double Eagle is one of the most beautiful U.S. coin designs.
Great find.
I found mine earlier this year; it has a different cover than yours....
...also, there are thin sheets of paper on each photo page that have yellowed over time.

What a great find. I have a book on St. Gaudens, but not that one. Which reminds me, I have not checked out the local book shop (new and used) or antique shop book sections in a long time. Cheers, RickO
On my version there was only one sheet left covering a photo plate. Yellowing also but all the rest removed. All the pages though are in good shape just the cover showing a bit of wear. I'll make the New Hampshire visit to the site in summer as it is only a few hours drive.

I'd love to make the pilgrimage but it's an ocean and continent away.

I never realized his home was a National Park. Some of the photos of the place are impressive along with some of his work displayed there.

That's a great find on the ASG book. I own a few books about him and his work in my own numismatic library.
I go to the Augustus Saint Gaudens National Historic Site (ASGNHS) a few times each year. The place is small, tucked onto the top of a wooded mountain, is not heavily visited and acts as an open-air museum for many of his large scale bronzes. It also had, pre-Covid, an extensive selection of numismatic related plasters, coins, models and sketches, but after Covid these items have not always been on display.
Here are three threads I have written over the years on the PCGS boards about the site. They may pre-date many of the folks here, so they may have new information for you-

Thanks Tom - great photos and descriptions. I would have enjoyed attending that dedication event.
