After over sixty years of collecting I still do not have one. As a young man my grandmothers sister had four or five of them. But she had found them all in circulation (1950's) and was very proud that she had so many. But having one is on my bucket list but in a high grade BN or RB.
I started collecting in the 50s and would periodically buy $50 bags of cents to search. Never found a 1909svdb. Your grandmother's sister must have had them all.
I think it unfortunate for anybody to assume that all RD coins are finer than all coins with a RB or BN designation. I have seen almost all of the 09-S VDB 67 RD coins. Many have been dipped and are unoriginal and unattractive.
It is so that most follow the cattle call wanting the RD designation on the slab. I don't. I look at the coin.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.
Here’s mine. It was a Christmas present from my Mom in 1960. She was the one who got me into coin collecting, having me plow through rolls of coins she used to exchange for me at the local bank. This SVDB is still raw, but still very treasured:
Here’s my 09s VDBs. The first one was a bargain basement one to complete my childhood set that started out in a Whitman folder. It pretty much matches the other ones pre-1935 or so. The 2nd newer one is a little bit nicer.

Our two current 1909-S VDBs:
MS66BN CAC
MS64+BN not yet sent to CAC
As far as 1990 No S cents, I bought two in a large collector's holdings a few years ago, but sold both within a few months.
Kind regards,
George
I have 2 VDB, one raw.
The other slabbed.

Hey, @hfjacinto , great raw early Wheats! I love your slabbed 09-S VDB too! And it also merits a CAC sticker! Way to go!
Enjoy!

Raw in my Dansco album just like I had them back when I was 17, just not nearly as nice as the ones I have today.
