    If the images posted are of the piece in question then I would suspect environmental damage and/or the sharpen tool in the image software has been set too high.

    Looks like environmental damage to me..... great year.... but the price is ludicrous. I have several 1942 Mercs.... If this goes for that kind of cash, I may liquidate. ;) Cheers, RickO
