So I bought an acid date Buffalo…

I got this in the mail today. Paid a buck + shipping for it.

Hmm… that mintmark sure seems to be tilted to the left. Let’s take a closer look at the date, now shall we.

I'm not sure... which answer lets me sit at the cool kids' table?

    A ) Great cherrypick!
B ) I would never buy a coin damaged like that.

    Let me know... ;)

    Would TPG'ers grade a nic-a-date?

Looks to be. That's the good news, the bad news is that nobody is going to give you more than a nickel for it unless it's authenticated as such. Then, you might get $150 or so.

...and that answers that question. I should have looked it up. Thanks @MFeld!! 👍🏻

Looks like the whole coin was acid treated. I don't think it is a Good 6 coin either.

So Nic-a-date could pay off in some instances.

Looks like a good find.... Not one I would buy though.... Personal preference, I like to be able to clearly see all details. Cheers, RickO

Nice find! Plenty of collectors would want to fill that hole in their set with this coin. For a buck you hit a homerun. Well maybe a double but still a great hit.

Did you know what it was when you bought it, or was it just pot luck?
