The OP Ike does look to have been plated. When I worked in the printed circuit manufacturing business, people were always plating coins surreptitiously with silver and gold... also old cents to make them look new. Can be done quickly and does not add hardly any weight. Cheers, RickO

I think the Blue Packs has S mint marks. I believe the Philadelphia circulation strike did not show a mint mark and is what your likely have.
Silver-plated (post mint).
The copper nickel clad weight is 22.8 grams; your's is within expected tolerance. The silver clad ones weight 24.5 grams more or less.
The copper-nickel version weighs 22.68 grams; the silver Ike dollar weighs 24.59 grams.
"P" mint Ikes don't display a mintmark.

perhaps a removed mm? looked tampered with on obv and rev.

looks like a lovely coin!
The copper core doesn't always show.
Well if it was struck on a 40% planchet then it should still show clad layers.
Plated, counterfeit, not sure. I hope it's not some super rare error after being handled like that.
The fingerprint shows up very well on the reverse!

The mint mark isn't that heavy.
Me thinks the latent kinda overshadows the coin. Kids don't do that at home. Peace Roy

ah. ty. i missed the weight in the op.
it still doesn't look like the usual plating job to me but i'm sure there are plenty methods out there.
Thanks everyone, If plated wouldn't it be heavier? Oddly I found two them in the latest batch of 40 percent..
We just ran the print.......

Not on your scale. The plating is microscopically thin and won't add any measurable weight.

wow, you left a thumbprint on the eagle. What did the acid do to your thumb?
@thebigeng Don't hold your coins like that. Hold them by the edge.

Dang, seven minutes for the answer. Nice!
I applaud your willingness to share the results with the forum, but....
The "test" to confirm the coin's content was quite invasive or even destructive. What if the acid had revealed thar the coin was not plated?
