Hi guys,
Decided to try my local Pawn Shop out.
Boy, I'm glad I did!
Check it out, guys.
Real deal this time.

Bugs Bunny

Plus, drum roll...........

This set

The "S" mint too.

Is this also an "S?"

Could this Merc. Be a proof?

ALL for $60!!! The "Bugs Bunny" alone is worth almost double the $60.
Opinions.
Thanks
:)

Yes. Unfortunately, the heirs must not have appreciated the significance.

Nice pawn shop find. I’m a big fan of Bugs. Solid year set, too.
Never seen a coin worth buying (at hardly any price) at my local pawn shop.

Die clash that leaves marks on Franklin's mouth that resembles buckteeth. Bugs must be shorthand for Bugs Bunny.

    Joey,

Not sure where you pulled your value for the Bugs from. Looks like graded 64s go for $60, and I'd grade yours no more than 62. I'd say it's worth a fraction of the $120 you quoted.

Those pop up fairly frequently on Ebay, but they aren't worth it with the cost of grading. I'd happily sell you every one I find for $120 .

You got a great deal. You should check the pawn shop on a regular basis and get to know the broker. B)

Didn't get to fully examine mine. Hoping it had the FBL's, along with the higher grade.
You're most probably right, though, thanks!
Still, if it is true towards your grade estimate. The Franklin alone, Pays for my whole purchase?

Yes, I do frequent his shop and me and him has a great relationship. Awesome guy!

He also had 2 NGC ms 64's in the 1884 CC
    GSA Holders. He wants, $370.
Thought about it but his price was very close to what it's worth.

Still an OK deal but let's be realistic here. Greysheet numbers:
Walker is no better than F15 imo. $25 bid GS. VF 20 bid is $33.
Bugs Bunny in 64=$36, in 62=$25
Not trying to poop in the punchbowl here but $120 is not reality

I think $60 for all of that is a great score, Joey. Congrats.

I would grade the 1929-S Half as a VG8. It looks original and would be an excellent album coin.

@joeykoins nice score. Thanks for the tips on the quarters. I've looked at about a thousand we have now. A few thousand to go!

    Nice score @JoeyCoins
I’m very happy for you. I must admit that your posts certainly get some interesting responses but your a wonderful example of rolling with it and putting a little sunshine outlook on things.
I too, shall begin to check some of our local antique shops.
As I was told when I moved up here that they march to a different drummer. That was 1995. They didn’t need no “big city pawn shops “ in our resort community 😂
Soooo. It’s a 90 mile drive to Denver.
Enjoy and keep sharing. Thanks 😁

Not necessarily. I put together a 1929 circulated set like that, holder and everything, when I was a kid because I could. No significance in the date.

I think it's a fair price. But, I agree, I don't see anything close to a score. I would sell the Bugs for $25 or so and a year set like that is barely above bullion, maybe another $25. But enthusiasm counts for something. As long as Joey is happy, it is money well spent.

That's true...and that's fine. But unbridled enthusiasm can also cost you money. The OP came on strong with a value assessment of over $200 for his pawn shop score. In fact, he paid $60 for $50-$60 worth of coins. That's fine. He likes them and it's fun. But would he also have paid$100 for the score? $150? It's not exactly a "cherrypick" if you are paying full value.

@JoeyCoins .... Not a bad price at a pawn shop.... I have found those facilities usually way overprice coins - and antique shops as well. Keep having fun, Cheers, RickO

    Not bad for $60.

Nice pick a pick is a pick at any price. That is what it’s all about getting something at a price lower then it would normally cost or a better coin at the regular price that would cost more if someone knew what it was. Grade, type, or error and variety. Happy hunting every one and be safe keep your head on the swivel it’s getting crazy out there again.
