Try seeking out advice BEFORE you bid on the next coin but even better to ask questions by visiting a local coin show and looking at PCGS holdered coins to learn what an AU versus mint state coin really looks like. Even then, it is tough to translate in person knowledge to knowledge of photos of coins.
In the meantime, you survived very well on the current purchase and received fair value for your price paid.
I wasn’t able to pay the last time, but I’ve found one almost exactly like it (slightly more lustrous), and am winning again, so hopefully I will get it this time
Is it raw? Is it slabbed? Just curious.

Never said anything about anything below AU.
I have pushed books, PUP's, dealers, grading class, and an affordable strategy on this thread.
Yet, I still not sure what you are saying @jmlanzaf
I respect your dealer chops, but you are welcome to keep trying to win a debate you are losing.
Keep your cheap mistakes and send them in for a grade. (Coin could have scratch, cleaned, color)

Looks like the same dealer has relisted the exact same coin.
Did the OP back out of his commitment to purchase it?
After @SummerDays3104 mentioned the seller's reputation I went and read his (amusing) negative feedback. My favorite was from someone who purported to have purchased 60 coins over six weeks and very happy with them, but wasn't happy with the seller's (who has six figure feedback) communication so he had to leave negative feedback for two.
Based on that and what the OP has said here, I assume he made some noises about being reluctant to pay at which point the seller blocked him and moved on at which point it became impossible for the purchase to complete.
You’re wrong. I’ve bought a coin from him yesterday
"I wasn’t able to pay the last time, but I’ve found one almost exactly like it (slightly more lustrous), and am winning again, so hopefully I will get it this time"
My guess is the seller of the first coin... is likely someone who reads this forum... and recognized it was his coin being discussed. Not wanting a potential return, drama, negative feedback.... cancelled the sale and relisted for sale. Many on this forum would have done the same thing. The OP may also end up getting blocked by the seller.
I've been responding to this type of thread less and less... because of the issue of me being able tell if someone is being sincere... or are another alt..., etc., getting enjoyment on yanking everyone's chain, and playing games, wasting everyone's time, etc . But, in the chance this is a legit and sincere poster, I will make my one observation regarding my own experience in the hobby. I had some difficulties learning much until I made two purchases and USED them:
A quality 5X magnifying loupe/glass
A book with grading standards, with pictures, and description. (ANA, PCGS, etc.)
After that, still needed lots of learning experiences... but things started to m make much more sense.
I didn’t disparage him. I was simply stating he had bad reviews, and they were all consistent with eachother. I said I was skeptical about buying from him, and I’d decided not to. Based on your guys’ comments, I decided to take the chance for $10. I get told to buy it, and buy it, and the get told I’m bad for simply stating what I read about him. Interesting.
Hmmm. As I recall, you did sort of disparage him. I went back to refresh my memory, and guess what? You had gone back and deleted the text from that post.
Above you suggest that you went ahead and bought the coin based on feedback here, but you have previously said that ebay wouldn't allow you to complete the transaction, and someone noticed that the same coin has been relisted by the dealer.

I've been staying out of this thread the last day or so, especially since you told the forum that you were leaving the boards and wouldn't be posting anymore unless you absolutely had to do so. It appears you absolutely have to post, which is fine, so I will just add that you did, in my opinion, take a shot at the seller when you wrote-
"Ooh, ok… I’ll pass then on this one. I was skeptical about this seller anyways, bc from what I’ve read, he has a sketchy past, and I’m not going to trust what his listings say. Especially if he marked this as “high grade” when it’s AU. Thanks guys, I’m looking for high grade buffs, and I thought I got a deal of a lifetime on this "
Interestingly, you edited that comment out, but @jmlanzaf quoted you prior to the deletion so it still exists.
The eBay seller probably hasn't read this thread - having a zero-feedback buyer back out of a purchase is more than enough reason for most sellers to block that buyer.
In my view, getting blocked by an eBay mega-seller is a disaster - certainly not worth it just to save $10. I'd pay $10 in a heartbeat just for the privilege of browsing his inventory.
Seems like a lot of energy expended over a ten dollar purchase here.
Maybe that’s a lot of money for a YM? I don’t know….. depends…..
I would have just dropped it into an album of VF-AU Buffaloes and moved on.
Lessons learned and some tuition paid.
Seems like a lot of hubbub over very little to me.
Some good advice and lessons in this thread though and thanks for the thoughtful contributions!

Not sure why so much objection to establishing your own grading set. In fact, JA is taking that approach at CAC. I would try minimize expense on it - no sense in paying $30 to slab a $5 buff when you can buy one already slabbed out of the bargain bin for $5 at any major show.
I have no problem with having a grading set. They are fun. But the suggestion made was to spend $1000 submitting your own coins. Buying someone else's mustard for $5 or $10 is a whole different story.
It is surprising how many slabbed coins on eBay can be bought for less than slabbing.
Pictures make it difficult to determine luster on higher grade UNCs.

No disrespect intended to our host, but felt this was a Masterclass in how experts grade coins.
Only one of the four seasoned dealers got to within the margin of error for NGC graders.
Oh how I would love to get a shot at a PCGS/NGC/ANAC challenge set at shows.
The OP is back to bidding on coins and lighting money on fire $10 and $20 at a time.

OP what is the end goal?
You need to grow up and take responsibility for your purchases.
Better yet, stop buying raw until you have some reasonable amount of education.
Just keep lighting those $10 and $20 purchases on fire.
$1000 in slabbed coins will look cheap in the end.
