Bad Face Book "Sponsored" adds and Counterfeits

2 adds running in my feed today; source sells counterfeits and uses stolen images of genuine slabbed coins and adds from good Dealers in the listings. I previously reported the 1875-CC PCGS slabbed image and the Dealer's images and they were removed but replaced with others.
I am guilty of purchasing one of the 1875-CC's; I wanted to see what I would receive and if it had a working chip, which it did not:
I have reported the adds to FB for what that will get me- seems something better could be done about these.
Love this one for the NGC 1918/7 SL quarter:

LOL
i came across more FB ad crap the other night and thought about posting to one of your threads but remembered you saying you wanted to try and keep them nice n clean so i didn't post and here we are, a couple days later and we now have another facebook scammy ad thread.
is there anything in this dumb life that doesn't come around full circle time and time again?
the most recent ad i saw (OF MANY) was for CC morgans $20 each and if you buy in bulk you get a discount !
that particular ad had a pic of an authentic one though but many ads i've seen previously SHAMELESSLY show pics of counterfeits.
Every ad on Facebook is a scam or for counterfeit goods.
If you are thinking about buying from a Facebook ad you should save time & frustration and just throw your money out your car window.
I'm glad I dumped f.b. years ago. Just didn't like it, jmo
These scams seem to be getting even more frequent. I know many of our members are dealers on FB, and do a legitimate business. Such a shame that these crooks are ruining it for all the good people. Cheers, RickO
Yet another reason I do not have an account on facebook. An absolute worthless and vile place.
I feel bad for West Coast Coins. That is a legit dealer, and this scammer is making it seem like they are advertising to look more legitimate.
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
i think facebook ads just became my favorite place to shop!
it sold at SB for $3120, so a $3100 haircut seems reasonable, no?

another lovely one. wouldn't it be sweet if these REALLY were the prices all this time!?!?! full sets of all usa coins for EVERYONE!
the more you dig, the dumber it gets. gotta love those comment farms.
here is one of the sites. usually there is no contact info of any kind, especially a website, you know, except the one you land on to get your money.
so when you guys get all these amazingly discounted coins, don't forget to send my piece. just a measly 20% referral fee.

Reason #2337 to not be on FB
Successful BST Transactions: erwindoc, VTchaser, moursund, robkool, RelicKING, Herb_T, Meltdown, ElmerFusterpuck, airplanenut
From the 1875-CC ad:

I have followed Revick (West Coast Coins) since he was punching AG Mercs into folders and selling then as a teenager. He has developed an enviable business and reputation totally earned by incredibly hard work. It is regrettable that others in any way might attempt to cash in on his effort and reputation, but understandable when you think of humanity in general.
I would stake my reputation on the fact he is straightforward, clear, honest, and predictable.

i bet the tpgs legal and counterfeit prevention depts. are HOPPIN' these days!
the problem is now SO bad they may need (if they don't already) have a political presence and/or contacts.
i personally really have no idea how to thwart the problem as it is an assault on EVERY aspect of life these days, not just some collectables but is an attack on ALL collectables (for anyone not familiar) and poor unfortunate collectors can't just buy certified to circumnavigate the problem either.
one can view all the "accounts" that liked the 99p unc for $20
Not a counterfeit coin ad but the funniest scam ad I saw recently on Facebook was for a mouthwash that claimed it would grow your lost teeth back.

That generation slab didn’t have chips. They appear to be Gen 6 and above from this announcement, unless somewhere PCGS found some old shells to use, which might be interesting if real.
https://www.pcgs.com/news/security-chip-slabs
Did you order an NGC one to inspect as well?
I have not; I had no question the PCGS slab was wrong but the chip icon made me take pause. Just a matter of time in my opinion...
just for posterity for those that want to know if their inserts have chips. you can hold them to the light to see quite easily and they are big, obvious and pretty darn long. you CANNOT miss them if you hold to the light. hope it helps.
i'm not sayin there is ONLY one type of chip though.
i do NOT know if ngc has any similar tech in their slabs/inserts.

NOICE!
the ONE thing that has been holding me back from joining the local fight club. i'll have to keep an eye out for that one.
do you have the links for the fraud reporting sites/phone #s.
all one would need do to get the ball rollin (for law enforcement) is to get a phone/address or just buy a low value item and see where it comes from.
probably isn't impossible to trace ads back to the person/entity purchasing them.
i've done adsense in the past so tracking urls, landing sites etc is viable. imo
i could probably fumble my way through some processes to start tracking that kinda thing down but i'm really not the first in line for that kinda thing as i just lack enough experience to do it well and fast. the juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze so to speak as if i did it and found a good process and then little to nothing was done, i'd really not have a favorable reaction.
my modest recommendation, since it is rather challenging to know if an ad was removed or not but they are like weeds or a hydra where a bunch more just pop up is finding a way to technically identify any one ad and be able to check similar/exact ads in the future to at least see that the reported ones that may have been removed, were actually. THAT way we could at least build confidence in their ability/desire to clean up this absolute disaster of theirs and given how LONG i've seen the counterfeit coin ads on FB, i cannot think of a more apropos word than disaster.
I enjoy pictures of kids and grandkids on Facebook, but I would never buy anythin. It is a hotbed of fraud.
If you know you lack common sense and good judgement, You should not go on Facebook. Also you should stay off of the internet.
Their About Us page is interesting too:

BRACE yourself.
it appears i have just viewed my very FIRST non-fradulent numismatic facebook ad, from none other than....
drumroll please
I keep seeing the ad for 1oz silver Maple Leafs for $19.95. Lol
maybe we got it all wrong? perhaps they are just selling the images as NFTs and not the coins themselves?
how else could a site like FB have SO much obvious fraud all over the place as a way to generate revenue?
perhaps they are partially owned by alibaba? counterfeits aside, my understanding is that it is (and a few like it) are like the amazon for other countries?
Someone's buying these

Seems legit......
Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
gotta love that background remove algorithm. looks like the slab has termites. lol
MORE satisfied customers. whooo baby.
Group morphed into a new name:
Same counterfeits...

I would think West Coast could take a legal position with FB and the other dealers who are being used to fish .
OMG ... My Mother was Right about Everything!
I wake up with a Good Attitude Every Day. Then … Idiots Happen!
when i laugh when i see things like that, it is NOT because i actually think it is humorous, it is because it is tough being human on earth and seeing/hearing/reading all the travesties that befall us, mostly do to us.
good find burfle.
