Can I get a "technically correct" on the upside down date!?

Mostly sure it's authentic with my new found error knowledge(s).
But this thing is quite the beautiful mess.
Calling @FredWeinberg or @ErrorsOnCoins etc... please.

I haven't a clue on this one. Could be real? One thing that looks odd is the areas that look like they are melted.? Ill defer to the experts.

I'm just really starting to get into and learn about errors after decades of collecting.

I'll put myself out there with a guess...I'm feeling like this is a bonded pair and that partial cent wedged/jammed as the other fully struck cent didn't get totally ejected for whatever reason and then that partial was struck against the edge of the not quite ejected cent like 10 or 12 times causing the bonding.

I'd love to understand this one...and know it's authentic of corse.

It’s double struck, the second is off center and uniface reverse (struck against another planchet). It also has some rim damage probably from a counting machine.

So you're thinking that's just one deformed coin, not 2, I can see that and have to agree.
That second partial area is in fact extra thin.

So...it didn't eject fully and flipped. Then struck partially again as another planchet launched in "underneath" it and it finally got out of there... that makes sense.

First, is it yours? If so, where did you get it. My first thought and non-professional opinion is that it's real. I suppose there are counterfeit mint errors out there. I'm going to stick to my first guess and say it's real. We'll see what the big guns say.

Also, it's got nothing to do with an upside down date. Here, I'll fix that for you. 😂 🤣

Yes mine, took a few buck risk thinking my gut said it was authentic.
Also I'm sort of hooked on errors suddenly lol.

I was always intrigued by the major errors some of the guys have here. I believe you have a winner with this guy. 👍🏻 If I'm wrong, I'll apologize.

Double struck, unquestionably authentic. Also heavily damaged with minimal value, sorry,

Would it be advantageous to dip that zinc in something to retard corrosion? Before it goes into a holder. Peace Roy

It was sent in a flip that was actually too small for it, part of it wasn't even showing in the flip's window.
I took it out for moments to take pics and to put it in something larger.
Did't treat it, just gave it a couple puffs of canned air from a distance.

    How it is now...

Good thing the 2nd strike has no relevance to the overall grade achieved.

I'm not sure why you are referring to it as an upside down date. The date is not upside down. The second strike is rotated.

Keep in mind, you could have requested the coin be positioned in the holder any way you like.
