eBay glitch PSA

While attending to my normal coin-related activities on eBay, I've suddenly started receiving other users' notifications. They show up in my notifications feed (seemingly at random) and go away again after a few minutes. An eBay agent informed me that it is related to a glitch in their system and there is nothing to worry about - no one else has been accessing my account.

Hopefully, reading this will save you a few minutes on the phone if it happens to you (and reassure you that, no, you did not actually black out and buy a bunch of engine accessories!). ;)

    This seems... troubling.

About two weeks ago I had this happen one afternoon. I was cruising ebay and started to get notifications pop up on the upper right corner of my screen telling me that items were now outbid that I had never bid upon, never bookmarked and never visited the listing. The notifications disappeared in a few seconds and never returned. I assumed it was a bad bit of script in an ad or something.

That would bother me.... I immediately suspect nefarious activity when strange things happen on my computer. I have been working with computer and the technology since before the PC was introduced, so I am computer literate and not easily rattled. Good to hear that ebay is aware of the issue though. Cheers, RickO
