Kennedy Half Dollar - Heritage Auction
Heritage was expensive tonight.
They had a 1964 Kennedy PCGS MS66 up for auction. With recent sales, I thought it would go for between $65 -$80. Little did I know, someone ran the bids up to $220 and I had to go $240 to win it, that will be $288 not counting postage. The only thing I can think of, is they also closely examined the reverse and came to the same conclusion that I did.

Gonna take a WAG and assume unattributed DDR FS801?
The mushy arrows on the reverse and the die markers seem match the PUPs
BST: KindaNewish (3/21/21), WQuarterFreddie (3/30/21), Meltdown (4/6/21), DBSTrader2 (5/5/21) AKA- unclemonkey on Blow Out
I just notice the die mark under the T in STATES and some doubling on the stars under CA... Cheers, RickO
Best I can come up with is DDR 008 from the variety vista page.

I'm not sure what the bidders saw, but I am confident this is not the FS-801. Note the lack of notching on the E and S of STATES that is the diagnostic for that particular variety. It may be a match to DDR-016, but I can't be sure from the pictures.

looks like a chance it is 13 or 14.
i'd say no to ddr 1 & 16.
Lance, DDR-013 has a die crack diagnostic that this one is missing and DDR-016 has some pretty obvious doubling on the C in AMERICA. Honestly, none of the DDRs are great choices and none show the reverse die gouge through the T in STATES.

this was my initial thought and must have deleted it out of my post before submitting. thanks
I was trying to edit and add a picture, but the post went POOF . . .
There's a claw coming out of the F of HALF. Easy PUP.

Let's try this again.
I don't think the coin is the DDR-001, 013, 014, or 016. The coin shows that the arrow feathers and shafts are doubled with the arrow heads showing both doubling and tripling on a few, the first six rays are doubled, the stars between the rays lite doubling, the stars around the rim are doubled with the stars between HALF and UNITED showing tripling, and notching on the upper corners of at least UNITED.
The doubling is a lot stronger than the DDR-13, 14, and 16 and should make a new listing.
We are still looking for the 1964 DDR-016 and if anyone has a spare they want to part with, it would have a good home in this set: https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/collectors-showcase/varieties/calebs-kennedy-varieties-by-conecas-numbers/1165
