    She was known as "the duchess" and pushed poor old Warren to greater heights in politics. I don't think that he was totally comfortable with the idea. Harding became less comfortable once he became President and found that he was in over his head. He spoke about a tax bill he didn't understand. Paraphrasing, "This is a hell of a job. I wish that there was a book somewhere that could explain to me what to do."

    Her parents were opposed to her marriage to Warren Harding because, according them, Harding was part African-American. Florence had been married and divorced when she met Warren.

    Here is Harding pictured on a jugate button with his running mate, Calvin Coolidge.

    Thanks, I wasn't aware of Florence Harding's backstory. I originally bought the coin because I thought her hat looked cool. :p

    Sometimes the coin designers can make someone look better. Here is newspaper photo of her, which she called "the finest picture of her ever taken." This is from Wikipedia.
