Don't know why this question popped into my head but I was wonder??

Do you prefer doing business in person and do you find you get better deals working in person or online?

Just Curious

I would always do some comparison shopping, regardless. Online gives you the ability to do that, but a local LCS has the advantage of sight-seen stuff, and immediate resolution of the transaction.

So, my answer is "it depends". ;)

Yeah I agree, I love the having what you buy immediately BUT then I also LOVE getting the lowest premiums online haha

I always preferred the LCS or a coin show. However, since retiring and moving East, there are NO LCS or Coin Shows......So, now it is online, either websites or BST. Cheers, RickO

Used to have some good local shops back in Texas which were nice to go in to chat with the owners but due to premiums and variety the bulk of purchases were usually online. I would occasionally buy from the LCS though.

No shops down the street where we live now but anything within a 50 mile radius are all a bunch of shysters. 100% exclusively online now.

The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

If pricing / quality is equal the LCS. No waiting

Best of both worlds... When your LCS is one of the larger coin and bullion dealers, has a good reputation, and a strong online presence to include real time sell and buy prices.

    Coin shows.

For generic bullion, online is just fine. For numismatic material, nothing beats a LCS or coin show.

    Coin shows.

Yeah, coin shows can be good for both buying & selling - while the money is sloshing around, it seems that more mutually-beneficial deals & trades can be had.

I prefer LCS but think Online dealers can be a good option. I am careful with online dealers, I avoid the ones that have lower premiums and future ship dates, especially if these terms cover their entire inventory. Just a little to risky for me.

Depends. Are we talking bullion or collectible coins?
If it’s coins, I want to see what I’m buying.

As far as junk silver and common date silver dollars, I prefer my LCS. He allows me to search and hand pick the coins that I want. I do not like to buy these types of coins sight unseen.

For bullion, I prefer to shop online as well as the BST.
