I thought I'd post for GTG some nice Buffalo's, you get a "bonus" for the correct variety. Best of luck.

Proof 66 on the Philly buff. 65 on the s/s variety. Very nice examples 👍

I'm going to go out and say PR67 on the top one and 64 full horn on the S/S.

Came here late and saw all the answers.

I would have said Proof on the Philly and 65 on the S.

I hadn't thought about the Proof grade.

OK, enough of this madness. The coins are posted below in their respective holders along with a close-up of the "S" mm. Pictures are courtesy of Mark Goodman. I'll post a few more GTG Type Coins later today.

I bought the 1936 Proof off forum member @solid a number of years ago. In hand it is a bit less golden in color and the fields are highly reflective and mirror-like. I have always considered it to be nice for the assigned grade.

The 1936-S/S is a coin I bought from a local shop. The owner knew it was an S/S but he must not have been aware of the value or else he had severely under-graded it because I bought it for the price a a normal 1936-S grading MS63. I took it home and pondered what to do, quick dipped it in e-z-est and submitted to NGC via NCS just for insurance. In a faux pas NGC managed to get the variety correct but not the date, absent the "S" on the insert.

Back in the 1980's I was able to get hold of Bill Fivaz by phone. We talked a bit, and He asked if I needed anything.

I politely said no and the conversation ended.

Much to my surprise, I received a package in the mail. It was from Bill.

He sent me a VF 1936-S/S and thanked me for the conversation.

What a guy! Bill Fivaz, I will always remember your generosity and care for an average collector like me.

Both really nice-looking Buffs, I like the re-punched Mint Mark on the 36-S that's a winner.
