No Love For Proof Morgans?

humanssuckhumanssuck Posts: 321 ✭✭✭✭✭

I dont think we see enough proof morgans posted. There have to be more amazing ones out there....would love to see them if you have them. Here's some horrid cell phone pics of a couple I've picked up over the years that I dont think I've posted before.

Beautiful coins, though I'm somewhat surprised by the lack of definition on the breast feathers. A strike issue??

Not that expensive, especially considering the lower mintage, beautiful quality, and overall demand following the business strikes. If I didn't have a chronic addiction to bust halves, I would probably pick up a few proof morgans. Your coins are stunning!

In this case its a not great lighting and hack of a photographer issue. For the life of me I cannot get them to photograph well through the slab, and they dont have true views.

There was a point in time when I opted to go after semi-proof Morgans. It was fun creating my own niche collection of Morgans, especially since at that time there was minimal premium for semi-proofs. I still have the coins.

Absolutely stunning proofs. Love the cameo contrast and who wouldn’t love those! Thanks for showing them.

Thanks Buddy...I was just drooling over your gallery, especially that ridiculous 1899! That coin simply should not exist....I think it was made by an alien civilization, and planted here on earth.

Very anticlimactic posting after @Floridafacelifter but here are mine. Lol. Both with a sticker. @Floridafacelifter those are stunning.

Very nice- and you can build a beautiful set more reasonably priced by going down a few points in grade and there really isn’t that much difference in appearance. I mean really- look at that amazing hair definition over the ear and breast feathers on your ‘92 and it’s “only” a 64??

Btw the Cert # shows invalid with PCGS- if it’s still in the same holder/same number you should have PCGS fix that for you- I just went through that myself.

Its nice to look at Morgan Dollars in proof. The clean cheek that is so often absent in uncirculated coins is a site to behold

I love them, but I'm not a current collector of Morgans, definitely something on my list after I complete my type set.

not the most important of the bunch but what a fantastic representation of what the gem morgan could/should look like. (toning is fine too) that coin and the spot-on images just looks really contactlessly classy!

the 78 pattern obv image is slightly egg-shaped. only about 10-15 pixels. fwiw

Nice proofs- I would love to see the TVs if you have them! I do absolutely love proof Morgans- they are big, beautiful, flashy, and they come blast white with deep cameo or beautifully toned. There are absolute rarities, conditional rarities, patterns, branch mint proofs, and Chapman and Zerbe proofs- something for everyone!

Fascinated by the toning on this one FFL. Would be most interested to see a non-TV pic to get a better feel for it. I like coins that have some distinction from others and that one sure does! Very cool.

Back in the 1970's I got to hold a beautiful 1895. I wish now that I bought it. :'(

Don't own any myself but I love looking at them! It seems like some of the best frosty cameos came out of the late 1890's period, then went blah starting with 1900.
