SSCA Big Holder - Reholder or Not?

I’ve got a nice SS Central America Double Eagle, but it is one of the big holders with the chintzy “pinch of gold” packages. What are the group’s thoughts on reholdering it into a standard slab? Coin just for fun.

Unless you're in love with this one particular coin, it seems easier and less expensive to take it to a coin show or find someone else that has a coin you're looking for and swap. Or even just sell this one and use the proceeds to buy a replacement.
I like the coin and I like having an SSCA piece. I’m just not in love with the holder, but I’m not going to change it if there is value to keeping it in the big holder. It’s probably just the OCD of liking everything to fit neatly inside boxes.
I have thought about this as well. I have a 64+ CAC and all my other high value coins are in Intercept Shield boxes. This does not fit.

You and I can be friends, lol. Same exact issue.
It’s a nice coin. I’d probably leave it in the weird holder though. Since it’s graded by PCGS it’s already just as good as a regular holder, but since it’s in a less common holder there might be some people willing to pay a premium for it if you ever sell it.

My advice would be to keep it in the special holder. That will bring value from collectors. If it really bothers you, then sell it now and get the money for a coin in the holder you can live with. Cheers, RickO
The history is also important, along with the pinch of gold.
I'd keep it as is.

That's what I want to do w/ a bunch of similar stuff I own, but the sell fees are so high I am backing off, and looking for ways to trade. Auctions take ~20%, eBay takes 12.9%, better it seems to swap it at a coin show or LCS.
I would ask CS if they can separate the coin and the pinch of gold into separate normal sized slabs. At least that way they are easier to store. Surely you aren't the only one who's wanted that.

I think people have done it, but I’m likely going to keep it as is per the suggestions here. I love the coin, but I don't care for the slab. I’m going to enjoy the coin regardless of what it is in. Maybe I’ll just see if I can collect a run of these giant slabs, lol.
If you did send i in to be reholdered, what would happen to the gold dust? I know that PCGS encapsulates gold dust, but would you have to pay an extra fee for both the coin and the dust to be reholdered?

I would imagine it would be two reholder fees.
