1954 US Nickel, Possible Mint/Striking Error

Hi,

I have here a 1954 US nickel. I was curious about this mark on Jefferson's face. See below pictures:

It looks like a possible minting or striking error? Would this add any value to the coin? I know this coin isn't worth much more than face value usually, but hopefully this one is special. I haven't been able to find another one with this error before.

It looks like a planchet defect. Hard to tell from the photos. Usually wouldn't add a lot of value, but it is the kind of curiosity worth keeping.

Probable lamination crack. Need a closer look.

@base_coll3ctor ... Welcome aboard. Difficult to tell conclusively from those pictures - will need a magnified picture of the area in question. Cheers, RickO

Whatever it is it would not warrant a premium. Coins that warrant a premium have a "WOW!" factor and that coin has none.

Agree with the others regarding it being a minor lamination error. Cool to save if you like it, but unlikely to add any value.

I was thinking that it got cut somehow but it might be an error of sorts. Worth putting in an album for sure.
