Depends on the press how misaligned the dies can be. (@dcarr could enlighten further, perhaps.) I would think that the obverse die would have been damaged by the collar when striking the coin shown unless its a broadstrike.
That is a big MAD cent.... I know @ErrorsOnCoins just said he had one more misaligned, but I have not seen that one. Thanks for the pictures. Cheers, RickO
I had a 30% misaligned Lincoln that I sold awhile back.
could you tell if the die had tilt?
i've seen presses on youtube a lot of times, once they start moving horizontally, you can see the tit and am wondering with THAT much horizontal movement, just how obvious it is when the coin is struck. t.i.a.
That is a really nice one. I once owned a 1960s cent that was misaligned in the same direction as yours, so much that the last digit was not struck up. Honestly I have no idea if I still own it or sold it years ago, I just remember it was cool.

In 1973 I had a '73 Lincoln that was, if memory serves me, approximately 40% off. Courtesy of John Devine. Lost track after sale to Natalie Halperin.
That 2000 was pretty sweet.
I wondered what happened to it.
Haven't seen it since it dropped off your site.
That's not MAD it's real pissed off.

They can and do get "worse" (when it comes to errors "worse" is "better" ), and do, but yours is a great example.
Pretty extreme. Visually it's a real keeper.

Someone forgot to tighten up/clamp/secure the flange/screw on one die/side or whatever they called the thingamading that held everything in place.
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Is this the same type of strike issue?
