Finally!!! Today!!!

rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Well, today I finally found a W quarter in the wild. A 2020 Weir Farm quarter. And.... It was in the reject bin of the Coinstar machine at the market. Along with $2.24 in dimes, a nickel and cents... one wheatie, a 1919.
Yippee..... Cheers, RickO

    Great to hear, RickO!!!

    I've never found one, but then again it will be nearly impossible for me as I don't do much purchasing besides coins. My wife does all our shopping.

    Congrats. Donato

    Great! B)
    Sharing my 1 and only "wild" "W" quarter (MS63), from change at BK. Looked better at 1 time, TV pic looks like I got ketchup on it. :D
    I might have to hop on the BST, I want a 2020 V75 quarter some day.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

    I forgot to mention, it is also a V75 W..... Great find.... Cheers, RickO

    wow at 63. figured it'd be 65 easy. reminds me about what @derryb said about the quarters NOT grading as high as expected on average and that was 6-18 months ago. these days, i'd be surprised at even being able to reach 63 from the quality i'm finding in the wild.

    @ricko

    gratz. what a heck of a way to find the first one. serendipity at it's finest!

    Nice find! I've been fortunate to find two W quarters in pocket change (as opposed to roll hunting, I've found fair numbers that way). One was at the post office, the other in change from the bank.

    Those Coinstars need to be checked for accuracy. I always check the Coinstar at the Walmart and, over the last few years, have found a few silver dimes in the reject bin which is where they should be. I found over $2 in clad quarters last time I checked the Coinstar rejection bin, however. No silver but over $2 in change that the machine should have counted? Makes me wonder if the count is correct for the coins that the Coinstar does count and then produces a paper voucher for the customer to cash.

    You just responded to a dead man.

    True, but it was refreshing to see his name on page 1 again.

    I've been lurking on here since I believe a bit before his passing (though I made my account back in January). he seemed like a very good and respectable man...
