As close as it gets!

I set my bid ahead of time on this one and closed out the page.
I check back today and found it amusing that someone set the perfect bid.
I was leading at 34.50, so the person did not know what my max bid was, they just happened to guess very well. I'm not upset, I actually find this amusing! If I really wanted the coin, I would have bid higher (but I already have a Moldova coin for my set, so that is why I set a fairly low max).

Here is my coin:

Good strategy to set your bid at the max you are willing to pay and not a penny more or less - win or lose, no regrets.

I believe with GC you have to manually snipe. I’m not aware of any services like eBay snipe software (unless someone made their own).

If someone's hi bid is 10.77 and your hi bid is 15.00 you just beat them by whatever the next increment is, correct? If so, then your opposition and the winner may have bid $50.00 as their max and only shows to have won by a cent.

If someone bid 10.77 and I bid 15, I would win at 11.77.
If the coin is sitting at 10.77, I bid 49.77 and some else bids 49.78 a few seconds later, then they win by one cent.

Not quite so, as the bid increment at this level is $1. So in this case had the winning bidder #4 bid a max of $37.78 to $38.77, they would have won at their actual max bid. That is what actually happened. Bidder #4 unknowingly placed the luckiest max bid possible of $37.78. Had the max bid of #4 been $38.77 or higher, they would have won at $38.77 regardless, which is one increment above @U1chicago ’s max bid of $37.77. Had bidder #4 bid $37.77 or less, #4 would have lost to @U1chicago .

    That’s exactly right.
I misread the second part of that post (and will edit out the “yes” in my reply).
