Though I'm fairly sure you probably know who I am I assure you I don't want any problems I only want to share what I've found. I'm asking for adult conversation as to how this and others survived without detection or even just the incredible work. I did a fair amount of restoration on the coins and still it has only reaffirmed my position as to what it is. I would like for the coins to achieve independent confirmation before sending to TPG but I guess it's not necessary, so a little history on it.
As stated in previous posts Joseph Wright had a neighbor William Dunlap, who had written a book a few years after Wrights death. In this book he described a drawing he had been shown, and his description is this, ". (I have before me a design for a cent, made by Mr. Wright, and dated 1792. It represents an eagle standing on the half of the globe, and holding in its beak a shield with the thirteen stripes. The reverse has been drawn on the same piece of paper, and afterwards cut out.)"
Ok so that says alot about something and even more about nothing. So he has laid out the image of a (Cent), without a reverse not a quarter? lol. Recaping eagle holding shield atop half globe with date. This in itself describes aspects of the Wright quarter but leaves discrepancies. Dunlap said the eagle held a shield which is absent on the Wright coin. Dunlap also referred to the drawing as a cent it's not known if this was an assumption or what he had seen. So as you can see there is reason to believe there might actually be two different denominations. One thing that got me to thinking was his phrase that the design for a cent that represents an eagle. I only questioned this because of his use of the word represents as opposed to something more defined it's almost as if he questioned what he was looking at. This coin is what I believe Dunlap had seen on that drawing as it is exactly what he had described. What you are seeing is an image of lady Liberty made up of a number of eagles holding shield atop half globe with date located beneath each.

I'm unsure what it is your referring to. Wasn't paying attention to time I have been a little busy this morning , had a couple friends stop by last night and had to see them off this morning.

  • I know the date is impossible to
make out on this one so let me try another see if you can get it.

  • Got this one also looks like a
pattern for the draped bust series

  • Pull in close to each and you will find the same pattern starting at the rim with what appears to be stars but actually eagles. Working inward creating the bust

  • I'll say again looking each it's easy to imagine they were the inspiration for the series. From flowing hair to coronet, and the date has been done in such a way if not looking it would appear they are all dateless therefore passed over by collectors. This is just one reasonable explanation for not being discovered for 230 years

Looks like an ink blot test to me. Your eyes see what they want to see. I was positive I had a 1799 cent till it came back 1800/79PO1...only then did I see the overdate as clear as a bell. Good luck tho...there is always a chance.
