Super Cool Silver Britannia 2023 Security Features

erwindocerwindoc Posts: 5,189 ✭✭✭✭✭

I realize this is the US forum, but I just got this coin in hand. It has to have the coolest security feature I have ever seen on a coin. Rotated one way, it looks like the trident. Rotated another it looks like a key hole. Finally rotated another direction it is the negative image of the key hole. How they do that is beyond me!

I don't get it. Can you illustrate it in some way? Or show in a video? Are you talking about that circle on the mid-lower left at 8 o'clock?

The Royal Mint has a video on their website, although it seems to be dated (i.e., just two images).
    Link: https://www.royalmint.com/aboutus/press-centre/the-royal-mint-unveil-the-worlds-most-visually-secure-bullion-coin/

The location is at ~ 38 seconds (i.e., the "latent feature").
And, you can see a BRIEF demonstration of the 'change' at ~ 27 seconds, and at ~ 50 seconds.

Edited to add second 'change' reference.

Interesting security features, the best I have seen on coins so far. Cheers, RickO

    Very Cool features, indeed!
However, isn't this the same coin, the 2023 Brittania, that has 2 types? I heard they halted the mintage when the Queen passed. So, some are with the Queen and some are with the NEW King Charles.

Example of a 2023 silver Britannia (BU) with the Queen's effigy.
Example of a 2023 gold Britannia (BU) with the Queen's effigy.

Per the links, the 2023 Britannia coins featuring the King's effigy will be released in the new year.

It might pretty neat to have the 2023 Queen and 2023 King of England Britannias in a PCGS Dual Holder... and I don't mean Camilla.

Yes, in the circle are just some of the security features. Check out the video at the mint that @metroD posted.
