Tracking Early Branch Mint Coins - San Francisco Edition - Eye Candy

in doing a basic study of statehood dates and the various branch mints created thereafter, leads one down a rather curious journey into some early parts of our history, numismatics being no exception.
to keep it short, for the eye candy this thread was created for, the path of the statehood of california and the rather quick striking of legal tender but a few years later gives us some serious US rarities and while the following piece isn't so early, it is still in the 19th century and no less impressive.
a study of J. Clapp and how/when he purchased his coins (a lot direct from the mints!) and the level of numismatic knowledge is nothing short of astounding considering the time period he courted numismatics.
Same coin, different imags.

@LanceNewmanOCC.... That is truly a beautiful gold coin. Cheers, RickO
