Old Gold GTG Revealed: 1852-O Double Eagle

I picked up this attractive Type I double eagle at my local coin show last month. I was pleased to find a nice coin in my area of collecting (1830s to 1860s gold, especially New Orleans) at such a small show.
Seller had it in a 2 x 2 cardboard holder as VF.
I just received it back from our gracious host. I'll post their opinion Saturday evening.

I am terrible at grading gold but I'll guess XF45?

VF25
25? Having a hard time with this one.
maybe F15, but i like it at 25
VF35 overall, however based on the reverse only I would say XF40
The problem to solve is how much of the apparent wear is from New Orleans strike quality issues and how much is from honest wear. I’m assuming a straight grade for argument’s sake.
Looks nice. The obverse looks like a Ch VF and the reverse looks higher grade. However, I could see this as a PCGS EF40.

VF30
35 and soft strike with no major issues - nice
expensive?
Well, just Love coins, period.
VF35, looks good!

XF40 I edited my guess based on the newer set of pics which are far better than the original pics.

I'm thinking the grader was in a good mood.....40.
Okay, let's try this with the PCGS photos. They are much better than mine.
Ooh, thats tough... I'm still sticking to 35 if they were generous, I think more likely a VF30 after seeing the PCGS photos, still nice

Many of you were right on the money... XF-40.
In which it is shown yet again that I cannot grade gold worth a darn
