An interesting piece of ANACS history with unusual pricing history

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,179 ✭✭✭✭✭

I just picked this up off of eBay. I like it not just for the coin but also
for the neat ANACS certification. The original invoice with pricing information and the price
advertisement is along with the coin and certificate. I thought you might find it interesting.

I assume coins purchased 40 years ago would be more expensive today.
That is not the case, as is shown here. (I purchased this for $160.00.)

If I recall correctly, Paul Sims would take out full-page ads in COINage and Coins magazines during the late 1970s and early 1980s. This coin may have been listed in one of those issues.

I think it lasted longer than early 80's.
Maybe late 80's or mid 90's

Edited to add that you may have just been focusing on a specific time frame.

He ran a lot of stuff through us.

Based on the date on the certificate, probably in a Coin World ad late January or early February 1982.

    On a side note:
Have you ever run across a coin later in life that you could swear was one you graded while at ANACS?
    I've always been curious.

I am actually thinking of having it all professionally matted and framed for exhibit.
