Here is my weekly CRH Half Dollar Haul.

Searched 6 boxes of half dollars this week and pulled some nice pieces out. Enjoy

    Pretty good.
Would you say the time/effort investment is worth the return?
What do you do with the boxes after you search them?

I also have a weird question. What is that fabric you have these on? It looks like a very close match to the 1985-86 model year Trans-Am interior color "russet" which I am having a heck of a time finding.

Chris, I live in a small town in New Mexico and the banks I deal with are within 4 to 10 miles from my home, I also have to dump where I pickup. I have outstanding relationships with all my bank and credit union managers for the past 14 years. Yes for me its well worth the time and effort. Now if I get skunked, I just hope the next week is better.

Lance, the 88 is what I call a GEM, other my not, its all in the eye of the beholder. That 88 is in awesome condition.

Chris, I don't know it appears to be a home made piece. I got it from a friend that owned an antique shop. No markings on the piece.

sure, i know what you mean. when going through rolls, there are coin that REALLY pop, especially against their neighbors in the rolls.

i still see statehood quarters now n then that REALLY are pretty nice considering and i've pulled out a few but am really selective. some i would not be surprised are 67/8 quality. (without looking at pops and gem examples) they may be more 66/7.

Nice haul of silver... Never had that much luck when I used to search half dollar rolls. Cheers, RickO

Brace yourself, here comes some preaching...

Who cares about time and investment if a collector has fun doing it? And how are you going to find out unless you try it out yourself.

I recycle aluminum cans while bicycling to purchase junk silver & bullion coins because it's fun to do for me. It pays about $2-3 an hour but it's a fun way for me to get some exercise. I used to metal detect and that doesn't pay particularly well either unless you're hunting beaches for rings or underneath bleachers for change.

Another thing I've found it is one gets much more efficient at a task the more they do it. For example, through checking garbage, I've learned of the locations of a half dozen heavy beer drinkers who each generate $100-$200 worth of UBC's a year. I don't know why they don't recycle their cans and put the money towards more beer. Profits from their cans become my bullion & beer money.

    Awesome!
    Good for You, dude.
I recently found a Silver batch myself.

However, my 100 half dollars turned out to be 45 Silvers. ALL 40%.
Yours were a beautiful mix of 90%'ers.
    Great find!
    Congratulations

Damn, and I had to can garden veggies, cut the grass, powerwash the awnings, go grocery shopping, take care of the dog and bird, and get the duck coop ready for winter ........... How the Hell do you all find time to just sit around and roll search? B) I bought 50 rolls of Cents from my bank 3 months ago and still have 30 more rolls to search - Probably living by yourself is the problem? Or the satisfaction........... who knows!
