Results in: Would you submit these modern coins to pcgs?
![Ppp](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/userpics/7XRSL4WOSV5J/nR42FNPBICFIB.jpeg)
I have 13-2020w reverse proof Jefferson nickel, four-2020w proof Jefferson nickel, and two-2019w reverse proof Lincoln cent and one-proof Lincoln cent. Total 20 coins at my cost of about $6- each.
I am considering getting these coins graded because of pcgs special. Pcgs has lowered their bulk submission to only 20 coins for dates 1965+. I believe the minimum grade is 65 (ideally I would choose 69 as my minimum if possible).
Cost, not including fees and shipping, is $14- per coin if graded and $2- if not graded.
Would you or not grade all or some (I probably have other moderns I could substitute)of these coins these coins?
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Short answer is no. The Lincoln cents would have to grade 70 to make those worth while, if any come back 69 you’ll lose money. The Jefferson’s would end up being losses, unless they all grade 70 where you’d probably break even. Not worth it with this group, sorry.
Save your money. Just more common modern coins that require expensive plastic with very high grades to have any value in the marketplace.
agreed save your money these coins just aren't worth the cost
2003-present
1997-present
Sorry not worth the time and money to get any type of return, except personal satisfaction.
I agree with the members above. Not worth the expense. Cheers, RickO
good answers/advice given.
i'll add just a bit more.
it is best to check the price guide/sales results on 69s/70s, then look at your coins CLOSELY to see if there are some decent candidates. the jumps from 69 to 70 can be HUGE and one can make an assessment knowing it is an all-or-nothing scenario.
for people that do this regularly, they can "dial-in" what grades are being issued at any one given time and which aren't.
a 20 coin bulk sub is pretty tempting, especially at that price.
if you are a novice at submissions/grading, if you do it, know it is a complete gamble with the odds not in your favor.
if you have some experience and can get enough coins you think are worthy, probably worth a shot but experience leads the way here with the variable, anything can happen being paramount. to split-grade 69s/70s is a tough racket.
get out a spreadsheet/sheet of paper and start running numbers if you are really dedicated.
not having all the modern coins pops/prices memorized (not EVEN close), figured i'd look one up and so happens it is the 2019-W cent which in the pcgs price guide goes from $42 (69) to $1050 (70). so obviously 70s are HARD to get but that is a rather large jump.
if you can remove emotion (mostly) and make a financial decision (variable/gambling), it can happen.
i've seen some posted orders recently (and over years), it can only take 1 coin sometimes to hit pay dirt.![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Not at all. Not worth the cost. Plus no guarantee you'll even get a 69 on them. I know someone who sent proof cents in and his best only received 67. He swore when sending them he had 69 if not 70.
I don't collect modern but if it's what you like or they mean something to you go for it.

The quarterly special might be right up your alley. 20 coins at bulk rate !!!
Well I disagree with the naysayers somewhat.
A quick check on Ebay completed sales shows the value of these coins graded 69 or 70 makes it a no brainer to get them graded by PCGS.
If you feel they will grade lower than a 69 then do not have them graded if you are trying to make a profit.
The big question is are you planning on selling or keeping for your collection? If you are keeping for your collection than I believe it is worth having them graded to preserve their current conditions.
Ultimately the decision is yours to make and if you do get them graded please post results! I would love to see them😎
Does anyone know how many of these additional coins were offered ? I dont think every Silver Proof set included these but I could be wrong. I thought these were limited and I see 3 Lincoln cents with my 2019 Silver proof set and 2 Jefferson nickels with my 2020 set. Is this all that were included in these two sets ? I think these are cool.
Common modern coins that have minimal demand.
Just buy examples that are already graded if that’s what you want.
Pcgs said I could use 69 as a minimum grade for this submission, therefore I will gamble (I found sometimes this is fun).
I sent them. Wish me luck. 🙂
is this just for the special or a new bulk policy?
Repetition of ignorance is ignorance raised to the power two.
Yes, that is all that was included in the sets. The Mint did not issue the 3rd W nickel....
Good luck! Please post your results!😎
If I understand correctly that you only pay $2 for coins that don't receive the minimum grade, it's likely worth it if you request a minimum grade of 70.
Only dealers can do min grade 70

Under the normal terms of the bulk submission program:

I wonder why PCGS is running a special when the turn around time is so long. Won' t this create further delays?
This is my third bulk submission this year. The other two took about six weeks in total time to get the coins back whereas a normal regular submissions had this year almost took six months. When I asked pcgs they made it sound like bulk submissions goes through a different group than regular submissions.
I think you nailed it. That's exactly why it's so slow. Bet those folks in grading would welcome something like high grade '36 to '42 proofs for example or how about some really nice cameos from 1965 to 67. List could go on fo a while![:* :*](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/kiss.png)
Ah. Didn't know that. Thank you. Suggest the OP submit through a dealer.
NO!
[that was easy.]
BHNC #203
Personally, I would keep them as-is, simply because of the packaging (I find the original mint packaging on stuff to be a cool piece of history).
But the OP will run into the problem that the dealer cannot take advantage of using the quarterly special, because those are for collector club members. The OP would have to come up with the normal 100 coins to submit bulk through the dealer to min grade 70 them. Kinda like a catch-22 situation.
Wquarterfreddie: results are in.
I started a different post regarding how pcgs completed the submission in three days, yes three days. Wow.
I included four 1986 ASE in this submission and they all graded pf69.
The remaining modern Pennie’s and nickels my total cost ranged from $23- graded to $11- not graded.
4/4-1986 ASE pr69dc pcgs $113-, gs $90-
2/2-2019-W 1C Shield - pr69 Reverse Proof, RD pcgs $20-, gs $6-
2/2-2019-W 1C Shield, pr69DCAM pcgs $23-, gs $6-
7/14-2020-W 5C Reverse Proof pr69, pcgs $26-, gs $25-
1/4-2020-W 5C pr69dcam, pcgs $25-, gs $10-
2/4-2020-W 5C pr70dc, pcgs $90-, gs $16-
Some of the coins I will lose money on which is ok because I had fun doing this.
🙂
