1917D Obverse Mintmark variety Walker

So I’m looking through a box of common junk silver and come across this thinking someone put this in by mistake. Can’t remember exactly what I paid, but it certainly was less than $5.00!

Wow!
Congrats
BHNC #203
it surprises me less than it was in a box of junk silver as i've seen dealers at shows/shops make mistakes like this often enough to expect it to happen from time-to-time BUT to actually be able to buy it for junk price is VERY scarce.
gratz on a wonderful type coin which, even from those images, looks like it has claims to an unc.
Thanks@LanceNewmanOOC. Was surprised when I first saw it too. This dealer or employee of theirs must have put all these silver halves in without looking for better coins cause I also pulled out 15 uncirculated Franklins, many ‘64 bright white Kennedys, au walkers, mercury dimes and standing liberty quarters. I had a great day!
@jfriedm56- Congrats on a great pick up! When did you make this purchase?
Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )
Congratulations on the WLH and the great quantity of silver halves. Cheers, RickO
Less than $5? Musta been well over a decade ago then?
"It's like God, Family, Country, except Sticker, Plastic, Coin."
So I lied. Just found the entry for the ‘17 walker. It was in May of 2005 and I only paid $3.00 for it!
ok. i got the impression by the $5 price it was a long time ago but wasn't certain and whether 3 5 or 10, that time period makes MUCH more sense since i also found stuff somewhat like that kinda regularly from buckets, tubs, trays, junk boxes or whatever say 2010-2017 or so. i started officially in 2009 or so. had coins previously but wouldn't have called myself a numismatist though in my haphazard way i was trying, even going back to 98/99 when playing with the stuff my grandfather gave me. it did not come naturally to me nor did i have anyone show me the way.
so grandfathers out there, MAKE SURE you including some literature with the coins. ie redbook or whatever. perhaps a grading book or something. say $1-10k in coins, $2-500 in literature.
- personal handwritten notes being the MOST valuable about the coins.
@jfriedm56:
Congrats on a good buy!

Wow! They must have been cheap back then. I paid $15.00 for mine at DLRC back in 2009. Mine isn't near in as nice condition as yours.
