I have received a message from one of my wholesaler that NO items are going to be shipped to Fla.
I hope the grading and coin businesses are OK!

I'm sure......You would have to have faith that your packages will be safe wherever they will have to be temporarily stored. Some common mail perhaps, but not a package of rare coins......
I would ship nothing to Florida for the next six to eight weeks. And anything previously in transit may go 'missing'.... temporarily or possibly permanently. Good luck to all. Cheers, RickO
Shipping to Florida, right now, would be begging for trouble.
NGC will be fine but not so sure if the smaller businesses will make it.

Looking at all the damage shown on TV, I doubt that some areas will have mail service for many days and perhaps even several weeks.
Hope that my dads place and my brothers place are ok. Right in the path of Ian. They evacuated on Tuesday.

That's pretty scary....I have a friend in Sarasota that lucked out. No damage and didn't lose electricity.
Some places really look rough......
I tend to ship my coins to California...and I live in Florida. I lucked out and only encountered max winds of 85MPH. There was a lot of cleanup to do today. I shipped my stuff to Cali and they were received in 9/9 and 9/12. The two orders are now in QA. One order had the grade post today. As long as you send stuff worth Express grading then you do not have to worry about 6 month service etc.

I have a coin that is currently out for delivery in Florida today
I live near Orlando and we got mail delivery this morning. It's primarily the coastal areas that got hit hard.

I live on the east coast and remnants of the eye passed right overhead.
Minimal damage in the area, limited and brief power outages(none at my house). Business as usual today. FedEx just came, trash pick up on schedule, everything open except the schools, much to parents’ chagrin.
Yes we’re fortunate, but it’s also disingenuous for some to presume the whole state will be shut down for weeks. It’s a very large state and many areas were minimally affected.
My dad and brother are back at their homes. No damage, but no electricity or water yet.

They posted updates and sent out messages ATS.
They are closed but will re-open Monday (10/03).
Their building is state-of-the-art and equipped to handle a hurricane and flooding.
All coins are safe, dry and in their vaults.

If I were a coin shop or other buyer in Florida, I'd be expecting tougher law enforcement and verification of sellers.
A friend has re opened his shop and has had an influx of sellers. Sales hardly there he says. People need cash for food, gas.
The USPS may be a whole different story along with certain dealers but according to NGC:
The Certified Collectibles Group’s Sarasota, Florida, headquarters will reopen for normal business operations on Monday, October 3.
There have been no adverse affects to any of CCG’s buildings or the collectibles safely stored inside our high-security vaults.
