A well worn, 105 year old cent... alloy as @Mr_Spud said. Cheers, RickO
Thanks you so much
You can do a quick and easy web search for information of the type that you asked about.
I typed in “1917-D cent composition” and the first result that came up was:

Your were given a book that was very generous of a member and you still ask a question that can be found by reading it.
Before asking read the book like that proof dime question or just TROLLing us.
Since you have lots of time to post and take numerous photos you can read and do some independent research cannot you?
If you dont want to read and use the book mail it back to the sendet so he could give it to a more deserving member who will put it to good use,
Your Welcome.
What you did not ask what its worth?
If you’re going to pick on someone, please use better grammar, punctuation and spelling. And since the book was given to him as a gift, it’s his to do with as he pleases.
