If only you could search through rolls of Canadian quarters! But yeah, on the date of her passing I got myself a 1994 silver maple leaf (in a capsule of course) to go with the 88/89/93 ones I already had.

    God Save the Queen!

I don't have it handy but somewhere I have the UK pound coin that I struck myself during a tour of the Royal Mint several years ago.

The queen was around for many years and there have been many years of her likeness on coins. It' not like Picasso died and all of his art went up in value. I suspect the new king may nave a much shorter reign. Coins with his likeness are likely to be much more limited in overall mintage.

You call those "Young Heads"? :o

This is a Young Head. :D

Now for a little education courtesy of the Royal Mint's website.

There have been five different portraits of the Queen, and four are still in circulation in the UK. The earliest portrait was replaced in 1968, which was before decimalization, so that portrait is longer circulating.

But...the plot thickens. I am aware that older crowns such as the 1965 Churchill crown are still legal tender, so technically the first portrait is still on monetized coinage. ;)

@JBK.... Yes, I have the Churchill coin (A couple of them I think), and it does have that image of the Queen. Cheers, RickO
