An addendum to the 1964 MS 63 Toned Kennedy that sold for over $500

A lot of you might remember this thread:
There was plenty of commentary and a lot of people that didn't think the coin was worth it.
It might not be for many collectors but for me I realize that I should have bid more.
I've scoured eBay and have an active want to buy posting going-neither has produced anything close. There have been some nice coins offered here but they weren't close to the color of the GC example.
The search continues and the determination of "worth" remains unclear.

I would have personally bumped the grade at least 2 - 3 points for that color. So, you were really bidding on a gem quality monster toned specimen at that level. Long ago, I remember the 64-d coming up to the Long Beach table in a 66 holder and the dealer buying it for a few hundred dollars. He offered it to me for $1500 on the spot as I recall and, like an idiot, I passed. It regraded 68 and remains pop 1 to this day. I think it last sold for around $25,000 or $30,000.
Just my 2 cents. Wondercoin
That’s somewhat like the 130k Franklin from Legend. It sold for several thousand before upgrading, then it still couldn’t sell until put up for auction (although the second time around it sold for a lot less, around 40k).
I don't see any reason why that coin isn't worth the price it sold for. I've never seen another Kennedy with color like that coin.
Your BST ad is a strong confirmation of just how rare those exceptional pieces are. I went through a few hundred 1964 Kennedys today on eBay and found a grand total of NADA!

Examples such as described above, is why I have no tarnished Kennedy halves, and money to spend on other coins. Cheers, RickO
