An interesting IOOF token and a Douglas. Az token
I own the Douglas Arizona token with a donkey on the obverse saying “Only Copper is Money”
What a cool token it is. Made by the Los Angeles rubber stamp company
.
Recently I picked up a token with a very similar donkey on it but no where does it say
Made by LA Rubber Stamp Co.
I’m wondering if just the reverse verbiage is made by them and the donkey by someone else?
.
Either way my newest IOOF is a very cool One Penny token and thought to share and perhaps
get some insight. Also, being that they were out of Los Angeles makes a strong point that the LA rubber stamp company did both?
.
Sorry, all my catalogs and camera equipment is packed away and won’t be accessible for a few months.
..
.
Also, the IOOF is brass
.
The reverse is the top token( I own)
.

Awesome discovery @coinsarefun! I've never seen that one before but love the design on both of these!
Nice tokens and in great condition. Both are new to me... I lived in AZ for eight years, never came across that Douglas token, and I went to coin shows there. Cheers, RickO
Very neat. I like the top one a lot!!
L.A. Rubber Stamp used the stock donkey design on quite a few Southern California and Arizona tokens, many of them being fraternal and convention pieces with the legends changed as needed. If you page through the Spooner Arizona catalog you will see six or seven different from Douglas as well as from other cities (IIRC). It is an fairly easily obtainable design that has been cataloged by Kappen, Birt and others for 30-40+ years.
