We in PA are being advised to watch our mailboxes including drop mailboxes for increased theft.
Also some people were caught near north central PA selling "gold" marked 18K. Of course it's not gold.
Be careful out there in the jungle.

@1Mike1 ... Thanks for the alert. These scams tend to spread.. and I am not far from that area. Cheers, RickO
I always drop mail off at counter or drop box INSIDE the post office. There have been local stories of mail being fished out of outside mailboxes for bank account info off checks.
You had me worried there for a minute.................I thought you were talking about mail-in voting ballots. I feel better now!
HA. soon as i saw this thread, it reminded me i probably have a package from another member sitting in the box. SURE ENOUGH. so thanks for the reminder.
also thanks to the letter carriers that do the little extra things that we don't see often or don't mention often enough to ensure we get our important (even just to us) mail/packages. the person(s) that has been delivering has gotten in the habit of closing the lid when there is a goodie package (as was today) whereas i usually just leave the top open so i can see if there is something in there or not but unless a storm rolls through with strong wind, when the lid is down, i know there is something in there.

I got a couple of coins in delivered last month. Two separate Package's. The one from Fed-Ex needed to be singed for but package with 3 coins that came Priority Mail was left by my garage door. These were not cheap coins. I was lucky I was home and saw mail truck drive by my house.

I request and pay for UPS return shipment on my submissions.
I travel into very rural areas on occassion and I still see a few of the old styles mailboxes with the larger "trap door" where you drop the mail in.
Newer boxes just have a slot - no moving parts. And the slot has little teeth or retractable (I guess there are a few parts) fingers.
These changes were necessitated because people would drop a line with a sticky object on the end into the mailbox and fish out letters.
